This year's Anti-Bullying Week has the theme Change Starts With Us and is happening from Monday 11th November - Friday 15th November 2019.
Anti-Bullying Week, supported by O2, is urging everyone to remember that ‘Change Starts with Us’ underlining how everyday acts, like listening to young people, having a conversation, thinking about the impact of our words or stopping before hitting ‘like’ or joining in with a hurtful social media post, can all help to reduce bullying.
At Withymoor we started off the week with an assembly discussing the impact of being kind, thoughtful and a good friend and 'zapping' other people, versus the impact of being unkind or saying horrible things and 'sapping' someone. All children were invited to be 'Secret Kindness Angels' and choose people this week to whom they can be especially kind - giving compliments, helping them and making them feel good.
On Tuesday, like many other schools in the UK, we launched Odd Sox Day in school with a fun assembly. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
Throughout this week children will take part in different activities and discussions about the seriousness and impact of bullying, and what we as a school community can do to stop bullying.
