Our geography curriculum is designed to develop pupils as curious, knowledgeable and critical geographers who understand the world and their place within it.

Rooted in the National Curriculum, it ensures that all pupils:

  • Develop secure locational knowledge of the UK and the wider world

  • Understand key physical and human processes

  • Can compare places and explain similarities and differences

  • Are competent in geographical skills and fieldwork

  • Can use geographical vocabulary confidently and accurately

The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils, including those with SEND and disadvantaged backgrounds. It is carefully sequenced to ensure that pupils know more, remember more and can do more over time.

 Key Threads

The curriculum is structured around four recurring threads, which are revisited and developed across all year groups:

  • Locational knowledge
  • Place knowledge
  • Human and physical knowledge
  • Geographical skills and fieldwork

Each unit explicitly identifies which threads are being developed to ensure coherence and progression. Pupils also use a broad geographical vocabulary, understand interdependence and interconnectedness, and apply fieldwork skills.
