Maths at Withymoor
At Withymoor, we aim to develop confident, capable mathematicians through an inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of every child. We equip children with the knowledge and skills they need for everyday life, future learning and the world of work. Through varied, high-quality activities, we provide appropriate challenge and support, with a strong focus on fluency, reasoning and problem solving.
Children study mathematics daily, following the White Rose Maths Scheme of Learning. Its structured blocks allow children to explore mathematical concepts in depth, building their understanding step by step. Children use concrete resources (practical equipment), pictorial representations (pictures and diagrams) and abstract methods (numbers, symbols and written calculations) to develop secure understanding. Teachers carefully select resources and adapt their teaching so that all children can participate, make progress and experience success.
We also use Times Tables Rock Stars, a fun and interactive online resource that helps children develop fluency, confidence and quick recall of their times tables.
