    Tue 28 Feb 2023

Year 4 have just returned from their trip to Brierley Hill Civic Hall with Sir Lenny Henry😊

  • What is your child learning at school?

Thu 16 Feb 2023 Mrs Barrett

Would you like to know more about what your child is learning in school and how you can support them at home?

Our school website is continually updated with information so that parents and carers can support their child with their learning at school. On the school website, click on the Children tab, then Class pages and then select your child's year group. Here, you will find a curriculum map which provides an overview of the learning for the whole year. If you select the folders for each term, you will also find knowledge organisers that give information about the learning in class that term.

New from the Spring term, and in response to parental feedback, you will also find a 'What are we learning?' document which adds a little more detail about your child's learning each half term and suggestions for how you can support their learning at home. Further 'What are we learning?' documents will be added as the year progresses so please check back during the Summer and Autumn term.

Thank you for all your support.

  • Safer Internet Day 2023 - Encouraging Conversations at home

    Tue 07 Feb 2023

Today is Safer Internet Day. The theme this year is: ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.

In school, we will be taking part in different activities on this afternoon, to get talking about life online.

    To encourage conversations at home,
we have created a ‘Padlet’ for the children to share the things they enjoy to do online. With your child, please help them to complete a recommendation for an app, website or game which is age appropriate (please do not recommend any apps/ games/ websites with ratings for children 12+).

Once on the Padlet, please click on the white + button (in the pink circle). In the ‘subject’ box, please put your child’s first name and class, followed by ‘recommends’. You can then add the relevant info by copying the format of the example given by me on the Padlet. If possible, include a picture of your recommendation - either from the internet or perhaps your child might like to draw a picture which you can then upload.

  • Children's Mental Health Week at Withymoor

    Mon 06 Feb 2023

This week Withymoor children and some of our lovely families are participating in Children’s Mental Health Week which takes place from 6 - 12 February 2023. For more information, please visit: Children's Mental Health Week

The week is run by children’s mental health charity Place2Be and aims to shine a light on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. This year’s theme is Let’s Connect. Human beings are intrinsically connected to each other, and human connection is vital for the wellbeing and survival of all individuals. People with positive connections to family, friends and others often experience better mental health than those who are less well connected. Let’s Connect is all about forming positive connections with others. For Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, Place2Be is encouraging children (and adults) to connect with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways.

At Withymoor, we have organised lots of activities for the children to do in class related to mental health and well being, and we have also arranged the following activities, aimed at helping children and adults 'connect' in a really positive way.

Music, dance, art and physical activity can all play a part in raising our spirits, feeling good about ourselves, and connecting with others.

Here are just some of the family activities we have planned this week:

    Monday - the week kicks off with two assemblies to share the importance of connecting with friends and family;

    then parents and carers of children in Reception class RE will be dancing in the hall, led by Miss Slater;

then in the afternoon, Year 5 are singing at our local Sainsburys store, raising money for Place2Be.

Tuesday - we have a safer internet assembly to raise awareness as part of Online Safety Day; then children from Reception RS will be dancing in the hall with parents and carers, again led by Miss Slater; Year 6 parents and carers will be joining children in class to complete some activities relating to Online Safety.

Wednesday - In the morning Year 2 parents will be joining in with creative activities with the children; Phase Trust are leading a workshop in the hall for Year 5 and Year 6 children, while Year 1 children will be joining parents and carers in some physical activities led by Mr Barnes, our Sports Coach.

Thursday - Year 4 children will be joined in class by parents and carers to enjoy some Art activities

Friday - Year 3 children will be joined by parents and carers to participate in some physical activities led by Mr Barnes. We will also have an assembly so that children can share with the whole school all the fun, connecting activities they have taken part in during the week.

Thank you to everyone for taking part!

  • New Toddler Woodland Group at Withymoor

    Thu 02 Feb 2023

    Dear Parents/Carers,

After February half term, we are pleased to be able to offer an outdoor toddler group in the woodland on our playground.

The group will be led by staff from Fruits of The Forest which is a small business providing forest school and outdoor play locally.

Initially it will be for 4 weeks starting on Tuesday 7th March -28th March between 9am -10am at a cost of £20. There is no cost for babies.

There will be lots of different activities for your children to enjoy. The cost includes a drink and snack. Please note: there will unfortunately not be any access to toilet facilities.

Children will need to be walking and dressed in warm, old clothes as they are likely to get muddy!

The sessions will go ahead in most weather but, if we feel it is unsafe one day, we will contact you before the time it is due to start and the session will be carried over.

Places are limited and booking via the school office essential. Payment of £20 is required in advance to cover all 4 sessions.

If you require more information, please call our school office on 01384 818530
