  • Toddler Forest School

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

For the attention of parents and carers of toddler-aged children

Earlier this term we were delighted to be able to offer Toddler Forest School sessions on Tuesdays at school between 9am – 10am. As the first round of sessions proved to be a great success, we have now arranged for four further weekly sessions starting from Tuesday 18th April.

If you, a friend, or someone in your family is interested, please contact the school office to book a space. We would also be grateful if Withymoor families could spread the word about our Toddler Forest School so that numbers build over time.

In the Toddler Forest School, there will be lots of different activities for children to enjoy. The cost includes a drink and snack. However, please note that there will unfortunately not be any access to toilet facilities.

Children will need to be walking and dressed in warm, old clothes as they are likely to get muddy!

The sessions will go ahead in most weather but, if we feel it is unsafe one day, we will contact you before the time it is due to start, and the session will be carried over.

Places are limited and booking via the school office essential. Payment of £20 is required in advance to cover all 4 sessions.

  • Withymoor Science Fair

    Tue 14 Mar 2023

What a fantastic day we have had here today with lots of budding and accomplished scientists sharing their experiments and science projects!  The children have really enjoyed sharing their experiments in class and visiting the Science Fair held in the hall this morning.

Thank you to all the children (and parents and carers!) who have taken part, creating imaginative ways to showcase their scientific investigations in school today.

Here are a few pictures from our Science Fair... more to follow soon...

  • Eco School Council

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

Last week, Eco -Council Reps across school discussed different ways we can make our school more eco-friendly. The children on the council helped complete a review of our current eco-friendly activities and  also suggested lots of different ideas and initiatives that we could add to our Eco Pledge, such as regular litter picking, saving power by turning off electrical equipment when it isn't in use, promoting recycling even more in school, planting flowers in the school grounds and promoting insect wildlife in carefully chosen areas of the school!

We have added our Eco-Review and Eco - Pledge to the school website.  Please go to the Children tab - Eco School - Eco 2022 -23 to find out what they children are planning to do.

If you would like to help out with any of their ideas and initiatives, then please get in touch!

    Thank you

    Mrs Barrett

  • School closed today, Friday 10th March

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

I have made the decision to close school today due to the treacherous conditions on roads and on our school grounds. I apologise for any inconvenience. This is an extremely difficult decision to make but the safety of pupils, parents/carers and staff have to come first.

Work will be set on Class DoJo from 10am

  • World Book Day

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

World Book Day Thursday 2nd March

    Book tokens

Your child has been given a World Book Day book token, which they can use to purchase the £1 books from all good retailers.

(Please see the World Book Day website for more details about these books)

    https://www.worldbookday.com/books/

    Make your Favourite Book Characters

For World Book Day, every child in school has been provided with a wooden spoon to transform into their favourite book character to bring into school on World Book Day.

    Share a Story

We would like the children to help transform their classroom into one huge cosy reading corner for the day. Children can come to school in their pyjamas or comfy clothes and bring in cushions and/or blankets to create a relaxing space to read and share books with their friends.

    Good morning

As you know, Year 4 were invited to a World Book Day event with Sir Lenny Henry yesterday and the event was featured on ITV news last night!

Two of of our very own superstar children feature in the broadcasts: George on stage with Lenny Henry, helping to create a new book character and Aaminah telling Lenny Henry a cracking joke when she got a book signed for our school library!
You should also be able to spot some of our children in the audience enjoying the afternoon's entertainment.
